Hi, this is the face behind Liuteria Bottone. I am a music geek, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist with a passion for handcrafts.
I fell in love with making and repairing guitars in my 40s, after extensive careers in live sound engineering, music journalism and online advertising.
I studied guitar making in Ireland (DFEi) and Sweden (Musikinstrumentakademien) and completed two apprenticeships, one focused on vintage archtop guitars restoration with Andras Novak in Stockholm, Sweden, and the other focused on modern steel string guitar building at Leno Guitars in Barcelona, Spain.

Before embarking in the 3-year guitar making course at the Stockholm school of lutherie, I worked for Stockholm-based luthier Peter Westerberg. For him I repaired 200+ guitars and basses, mostly vintage. Prior to that I worked as a repair specialist for both direct customers and music shops in Dublin, Ireland, where I’ve recently moved back to.
When it comes to building, I take inspiration from the iconic guitars that I have admired and played growing up, both acoustic and electric. I like to re-interprete those traditional models through the use of modern building choices and unique details that often feature non-traditional elements such as fish leather or metal.
Acoustic measurements and modal tuning are an integral part of my work on acoustic guitars, something that I apply at each stage of my building process. This practice allows me to predict and control how my instruments will sound, so to create resonant guitars that have a clean and rich voice.
My builds have been featured in three Scandinavian guitar shows and are currently available to buy in No.1 Guitar Shop, in Gothenburg, Sweden.
